Mumbai Sleep Clinics Now Offer Overnight Studies for Residents
Mumbai residents facing persistent sleep issues now have several hospital-based options for overnight studies and follow-up care.
How we reported this

Two major Mumbai hospitals have expanded their sleep study slots this month, with Lilavati Hospital in Bandra reporting a 30 percent rise in bookings since April.
Urban noise, irregular work hours and high stress levels have pushed more people to seek clinical checks rather than rely on phone apps or yoga alone. City doctors note that untreated sleep apnea raises risks for hypertension and diabetes, conditions already common among Mumbai adults aged 35 to 55.
KEM Hospital in Parel runs a dedicated sleep lab that accepts referrals from general physicians across south Mumbai. Lilavati’s centre on Bandra Reclamation offers both full-night polysomnography and home-based kits for patients who cannot stay overnight. Both facilities provide reports within 48 hours and link patients to follow-up appointments with pulmonologists or neurologists on site.
Study costs and availability
A standard overnight study at Lilavati currently costs between 12,000 and 18,000 rupees depending on the number of channels recorded. KEM offers the same test at a lower government-subsidised rate of 7,500 rupees for eligible patients. Appointments at either centre can be made through their outpatient departments, with wait times averaging two to three weeks during the monsoon season.
Residents who live near Powai Lake or Juhu Beach often combine study results with simple habit changes such as an evening walk along Marine Drive or a morning session at the Bandra Bandstand yoga groups. These routines help maintain the improvements seen after treatment begins.
Next steps for patients
Anyone experiencing loud snoring, daytime fatigue or morning headaches should first consult their family doctor for a referral. Staff at both hospitals advise bringing a list of current medications and a sleep diary covering the previous two weeks. Early assessment prevents longer-term health complications and fits easily into existing Mumbai routines built around beach walks and hospital networks already familiar to local families.
